Samsung Galaxy S5 Tips

- Use the Phone Wearing Gloves or by using a Pencil
The touch sensitivity of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is so sensitive that it can even recognise a pencil touch or recognises touch with a pencil or other such object. Anyone can do this just with a few quick Settings Changes.
To do this on your S5, head to Settings > Display > Tick the ‘Increase touch sensitivity’ feature or select ‘Touch sensitivity’. Now you can use this feature with many apps just by wearing gloves, using your fingernail or even a pencil!
- Tilt for a Suggested Music
Using the Samsung’s App for Playing Music? If you Tilt the Galaxy S5 horizontally (into landscape) while listening to a song via the music player app, and your S5 will instantly suggest similar tracks on your phone based on information of the current song, such as its genre, mood, source and so on. The more songs you have on your Phone the Better.
Use the Toolbox to Bookmark your favourite Apps
Using the Toolbox Widget opens and closes like a mini-folder or Favorite Apps Folder. It’s small and round design keeps it from interfering with the general use of your phone and you can move around anywhere on your screen. Just add your favourite applications here and access them quickly whenever you want them. You can either tap the Toolbox icon on the quick panel accessible when you pull down the status bar or go to Settings > Toolbox. It will bring up a circle-shaped icon with three dots inside on your screen. Press and hold the icon and drag it to the Edit feature, you can then customize which apps appear on the floating Toolbox.
Enter Private Mode
You can protect your secret messages, pictures, and voice recordings from other people.
This feature is called Private Mode.
To use Private mode, you first need to choose how you will unlock the screen in the private mode. Head to Settings > Private mode. Select the contents you want to hide, hit Menu > Move to private then a lock key will appear next to the contents, protecting them.
The Contents in Private mode will only be viewable when you are in Private Mode, but don’t forget your pin as you won’t be able to access Private Mode.
Enter Kids Mode
Let your children use your Galaxy S5 without worrying they might get a hold of and/or delete your data.
Samsung launched a Kids Mode on the S5 which makes your phone safer for or from kids. Kids Mode provides fun and safe content for children. You can allow and restrict access to certain applications and media content on your S5.
To do this:-
- After downloading the Kids Mode App, a Kids Mode screen will be created. Open the Widget.
- Choose a secure PIN to exit Kids Mode.
- Create a Profile for your Child or Children.
- Finally, choose the applications that you want allowed to use in Kids Mode.
You also can also limit the time your kids can use your smartphone. To Do This Tap Parental Control > Menu > Daily playtime limit and you can set daily time limit. It also lets you check the activity history including total playtime and most frequently used applications for last 30 days.
- Startup the Camera from the Lock Screen
The Galaxy S5 now allows you to directly access the camera from the Lock Screen, just for those moments you need your camera in a hurry. To activate head to Settings > Lock Screen > Camera shortcut, now on your lock screen a camera icon will appear for instant access.
Two latest features for the S5’s camera is the Virtual Tour and Shot & More.
The Virtual Tour feature allows you to take pictures as if you are giving a tour of the surrounding area to viewers.
After putting the camera in the virtual tour mode, by moving the camera following the guided arrows that point forward, left, or right, you can take shots of the same area. You can share tours of your house, street, and much more.
The Shot and More mode allow you to edit pictures and apply various effects immediately after taking your photo.
You can choose the best photo from several taken in rapid succession, using diverse features such as best photo, best face, drama shot, eraser, and a lot more.
- Have Priority Senders in messaging
Set your favourite people you send messages to and always have them on hand.
Tap the + Priority Senders to add your buddies, add up to 25 people and they will always be top of your list for easy sending.
- Caller Information while you’re still on the Phone
Galaxy S5 shows you caller information while you make or receive a call, and even while you’re on the phone.
Go to Setting > Call > Tick the Show caller information box. Then the caller’s recent social network activity (Google+) and the history of your communication with them will be displayed.
- Receive a call while using other Apps with ‘Call Notification Pop-ups’
Every Time you get a call while using an app the app will stop and display Incoming call screen appears.
However, you can change this on your S5 letting you carry on using apps while displaying a Pop-Up when receiving calls and if you tap the speaker icon on the pop-up screen, you can receive a call and keep using applications.
Head to Settings > Call > Tick the Call notification pop-ups box.
